Ruthan Brodsky is a health and business writer specializing in helping physicians, dentists, and other health care providers market their practice in the merging the online and offline worlds.
Ruthan, a former teacher, created her own company when she started as a freelance writer and editor 25 years ago. Her writing projects were divided into three areas: health and medical writing, gifted education writing and editing, and writing about issues in women’s golf.
Her Post-masters degree in Gerontology helped to establish Ruthan as an expert on the growing aging population and the health issues of baby boomer generation. At the same time, as editor of a peer reviewed educational journal on gifted education, Ruthan was continually engaged in providing articles for other journals and popular magazines about gifted education.
Her passion for a sport is fixated on golf. Ruthan married a golfer and learned how to play. She became very good at the game due to an incredible short game (single digit handicap). She then figured out she could combine what she knew about the game and about health issues and wrote many articles for national golf magazines, particularly the women’s golf magazines.
Over the past several years, Ruthan’s business focus has come full circle and she is once again focusing on health issues. Included among her freelance projects is putting together marketing materials and copywriting for a variety of health care providers.
Ruthan’s blogs reflect her more recent interests.
About 10 years ago she took a keen interest in what is called Alternative or Complimentary Medicine. Ruthan prefers the term Integrative Medicine because she favors those medical practices which combine the best of traditional modern medicine with other approaches such as massage, acupuncture, yoga, and biofeedback to name a few.
The blog, www.BalanceYourHealth.com , now reflects that focus.
Ruthan lives in Michigan with her husband Bernie who owns a manufacturing company. They have two daughters, one of whom lives in Vermont with her husband and three children and the other in Illinois with her husband and two children. If you ask Ruthan whether she has any travel plans, her response is often ‘yes – to Illinois or to Vermont’
Ruthan is a member of The American Medical Writers Association, The Science Writers Association, and an Associate Member of The Golf Writers Association.
